Olive Story Museum
This small charming museum is tucked away in the traditional Greek village of Makriotika, within the beautiful Pylaros Valley. A little hidden jewel and well worth a visit. Situated in a narrow street parking is not obvious, there is a sign pointing down to a tiny very steep slope and may not be suitable for larger cars. Original machinery used in the production of olive oil. There is also a running commentary explain the history and the importance of the facility to the area.
Inside the museum you can closely inspect original machinery used in refining olives.
This museum is a restored oil press facility, built in the early 20th century, surviving the devastating earthquake of 1953. It contributed, with all other local facilities, to the economical growth of its vicinity, up to the late ’70s.
Opened in the summer of 2010 as a museum. Opening times during the day; 11am to 1pm.
